Principal's Corner
Mr. Mario Millan

Richgrove Parents, Students and Community,

It is that time again when we begin to wind down the days of summer and begin to think about a new school year. This year our school has mad some moves to ensure that our students will be instructed by the strongest staff at every grade level. We have made changes in grade level teachers that we are very excited about.

As a school district we are attempting to make the educational process every student goes through the best it can possibly be. Our teaching staff has gone through more training this summer to ensure that they are up to speed on best practices in the use of our new curriculum. We assure you that our staff will provide a rigorous yet differentiated instructional program so that all students have the opportunity to close the achievement gap, succeed and go beyond. They will test our student’s abilities, and ask them to work harder than they have ever worked. We will do this with patience, but will ask the students to reach there proper zone of development and surpass it.

In order for this to occur, however, we will need the assistance of the parents/guardians, and the internal desire to succeed that is in each and every student. We will need every entity involved in the educational process to work together, set high expectations and put in the required time and effort to be successful. As for the school I can assure you that we will do our part to place our students in a position of attainable success. We will provide for a conducive learning environment where students can master the standards they work on.

At home we ask that you provide for a positive learning environment that allows for students to focus, work and discuss their schooling. It is imperative that the home be a place where students continue their education along with higher level conversations. This will put our students in a position to apply what they have learned, be allowed to finish what they have started and produce oral language. Have a home of open ended discussion, and do not allow a day to go by without family conversations on school, friends, proper conduct, goals and high expectations.

Students, come into this year knowing it will be your best year ever. Do the best that you can to get better everyday. Strive to be the best at everything you do, and learn to take on uncomfortable moments in education. Not knowing is only an opportunity to learn. You have the tools and the resources to lay down a strong foundation here at Richgrove School. Take advantage of all that we have to offer you. Decide that college is your goal, and your time at Richgrove will prepare you for high school and spring board you into a university. You are going to be successful. Accept a strong work ethic, be a positive student, conduct yourself with honor, and you will be another Richgrove success story.

School will resume on August 9th at 8:05. Please be here on time and ready for what promises to be another great year.

Sincerely,

Mario Millan

Principal
